We often write about limitation periods, the need to diarize matters and the like. But limitation periods are not the only things lawyers deal with that are on a clock.

We are thinking of recordings or registrations with expiration dates.

Judgments and PPSA encumbrances come to mind. Recordings such as these can expire if not renewed.

If your retainer does not include responsibility for renewals, your reporting letter should say so. If part of your retainer is the renewal of a recording/registration, your file should be properly diarized.

And remember that judgment and PPSA charges can expire on different dates and renewing one does not renew the other.
