Things to consider
- Develop a disaster and recovery plan for your office, files and computer in case of emergency/disaster, illness, incapacity or death.
- Contact LIANS’ Risk and Practice Management Program for assistance in setting up your practice
- Register your “Doing business as” name (if applicable)
- Obtain business licenses or permits
- Order Post Office Box (if needed)
- All members of the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society are required to keep the Society informed of their current mailing address, telephone number and email address (if applicable), as per Regulation 4.1.1 under the Legal Profession Act. To advise the Society of new contact information, please complete the Contact Change Form.
- Join LIANS’ Mentorship Program.
- Develop a network of other lawyers to call upon for assistance
- Contact the NSBS Professional Responsibility department with ethical questions
